Questions students ask

How many days can international students work in Germany?

Many student residence permits allow 140 full days or 280 half days of work per year. The exact rule is written on your permit, and some permits differ. Permit Radar lets you enter the limit that applies to you and tracks it for you. Always confirm with your Ausländerbehörde or International Office.

What counts as a half day?

A half day is commonly a working day of up to 4 hours. In Permit Radar you can set the cutoff yourself, so the count matches what your permit or office tells you.

Do student assistant jobs (HiWi) count toward the limit?

Jobs as a student assistant at your university often do not count, but it depends on your case. Ask your International Office before relying on it. Permit Radar shows this hint when you get close to your limit.

What happens to my payslip when I upload it?

It is read in memory and deleted within seconds. We keep only the dates and hours you confirm. Your tax ID, IBAN, salary and address are never stored.

Is Permit Radar really free?

Yes. It is a free, non-commercial student project with no ads and no paid plans. You can download or delete all your data at any time.

Is Permit Radar legal advice?

No. It is a calculator and reminder tool that gives estimates based on what you enter. For decisions about your residence status, talk to your Ausländerbehörde, your International Office, or a lawyer.

Know before your employer or the Ausländerbehörde asks.

Free. Private. Takes a minute to set up.
